The Best of 2016 – Part One
Wedding Season 2016 and the 11th career started a lot later than usual, I didn’t shoot a wedding from New Years Eve until the end of April, but boy it made up for lost time. The First wedding of the year set the standards incredibly high with a bespoke wedding at The Old Barn Near Clovelly, North Devon. Danny & Sophie created the most stunning day and had the sunshine to match. From the fair ground rides to personalised lunchboxes for the guests this was going to be a tough wedding to top.
The Following wedding end I returned to rural Shropshire and to The Albright Hussey. It had been a number of years since I’d visited the Hussey but as usual Paul and the Team made sure Katie & Darren’s day was one to remember. The Outdoor ceremony was interrupted by a quick April shower but the happy couple of their guest just got on with it.
Sandra & Marks big day in the ancient Roman village and at the Wroxeter Hotel saw a few first for me. It was certainly first time id ever seen the bride and groom have a sack race across the lawns not to mention the how to guides they each had. The May Sunshine provided the perfect weather for the outdoors wedding ceremony and the happy couple and there guests made the most of it.I then had a little break from weddings until mid June and then came the big one. The one I had been keeping secret from everyone but my wife from nearly 2 years. It was the wedding of Ruth & Tom at Somerford Hall, Brewood. This wedding would see the image below make national press and not only that but get over 115,000 views on twitter. Mainly because it’s a totally awesome image of two totally awesome people but also because Ruth has a brother some of you may of heard of ha-ha. This day was certainly one of the highlights of my year Ruth & Tom had the most amazing day and both sides of the family were amazing to capture and be around for the celebrations.
Having become the photographer to the stars ha-ha, it was on to the Mount Hotel, Tettenhall to play my part in Charlotte & Stevens big day. I love the shot below of Charlotte and her daughter stealing a quick kiss before the big reveal to Charlottes dad. Again another scorcher of day in the West Midlands and the whole day was full of laughs and excitement.
Another small break before the start of MAD SEASON. The six-week crazy period all wedding photographers experience around July and August for me kicked off with a triple header. The first wedding of which was for one of the nicest couple I have ever had the please to capture, in one of the most stunning venues in the West Midlands. It’s a pretty big compliment when a couple move their wedding date just because you’re already booked but that’s what happened with Chloe & Simon. I first met these guys at their Venue Alrewas Hayes, Near Lichfield and was gutted when I was already booked for their date. I jokingly suggested they moved to the Thursday to which I was gobsmacked when they came back to my stand 15 minutes later and said “ok we’ve moved the date where are the booking forms”. It truly was an honour to be apart of this special day.
The rest of the weekend was just the same. On the Friday I returned to Moxhull Hall, Wishaw to capture Sammie & Matts Wedding. I had shot Matts Brothers wedding a few years previous and It was fantastic to meet the new additions to the family and be entrust to capture another special day in the Jarvis family calendar. Sammie & the girls in the morning were a fantastic group to be a round and were so much fun.
And the finale to the mad weekend was a beautiful and very civilised affair (for a villa fans wedding haha) at the incredible Rowton Castle, Near Shrewsbury. This wedding topped off possibly the best weekend of the year for me. This was another set of previous clients. A gorgeous bride, handsome groom and stunning venue made life very easy. I’ve know Charlotte & Jordan for a few years having shot Charlottes brother wedding several years ago, and couldn’t wait to capture this wedding. These guys are so enthusiastic about everything and its truly infectious. I had an absolute blast although I did have to stop my self from photoshopping Jordan’s Villa tattoo to a bit of Blue & White.
Well that’s Part One done. The first part of 2016 was incredible and that was made possible by all the amazing couples I had the please of working with. Thanks all!
Part Two Coming Soon!
