A Selection of Wedding Photography from the marriage of Rachel & Andrew Jones on the 12th June 2011, the couple were married at the spectacular Moxhull Hall near Sutton Coldfield.
Rachel Lloyd and Andrew Jones were married in a very elegant civil ceremony at the incredible Moxhull Hall on Sunday 12th June 2011.
I arrived at Moxhull Hall just after 12 noon on a very wet and grey Sunday to be greeted by Andrew, a HR. advisor for Walsall Schools and his brother and best-man Craig unloading their cars. Andy as usual had a big beaming smile on his face and assured me he wasn’t nervous in the slightest but was just really excited. After a short chat and a few shots I left the boys to finish getting dressed in their light grey suits with blue waistcoats and cravats provided by Nicholas Smith of Brierley Hill and headed down the corridor to the bridal suite.
I entered the room to find Rachel, a sales assistant for the Early Learning Centre, unpacking her shoes and jewellery and unwrapping a present from Andy, a Swarovski crystal butterfly to match her shoes and the one of the themes running through the day. Once I had finished photographing her dress and jewellery it was almost time for Rachel to begin to get into her dress. So I stepped out of the room for a few moments whilst Rachel got into the dress and once she was ready I got called back in. I photographed away and chatted to Rachel as her sisters and bridesmaids, Sarah and Emma began to zip up the stunning Jonathan James Couture gown provided by Fairytales in Aldridge. Rachel couldn’t speak highly enough of shop owners Gemma and Carol; she says “as it was a couture gown there are many ways to make it personal to you, so I was very excited when my dress arrived to see the finished article”
“My dress was exactly what I had always dreamed of; it had a sweetheart neckline with crystal embroidery on the bodice and layers of ivory organza ruffles on the skirt”.
Rachel looked amazing and soon relaxed into her role as a model for the day whilst we shot a few bridal portraits and waited for dad to come to see his stunning daughter in her wedding dress. Soon enough it was 14.30 and time for the ceremony to begin. The couple were joined by 60 of their closest friends and family to exchange vows specially written for the day by each other. Finally after a beach proposal in St Ives, Cornwall by Andy on Rachel’s 21st Birthday and 10 months’ worth of planning the couple who had met 6 years earlier on a night out in Walsall were now Mr and Mrs Jones.
After they had exchanged the beautiful matching platinum wedding bands supplied by Ernest Jones in Merry Hill it was time for the photography to begin. The ceremony room would now become an impressive backdrop for all of the couples requested formal family shots, due to the amount of rain still pouring down outside the makeshift studio was quickly set up and we got the show on the road. Following all of the group shots the couple and I took a little time out to shoot some of their bride and groom portraits, using the shelter provided by the incredible 100 year old building of Moxhull Hall. It wasn’t until later in the evening, following three superb speeches, that the rain finally stopped and we were able to get outside and make use of the superb landscaped surroundings provided by Bobbie and Andreas at Moxhull Hall. Rachel and Andrew were great and didn’t let the rain dampen their spirits or enthusiasm for having their pictures taken and threw themselves whole heartedly in to everything I asked of them and the results are truly spectacular. This is what they said “We first met Ben at the Wedding Connections wedding fayre at Merry Hill in 2010 and booked without hesitation. Choosing the right photographer was very important to us because they are such a big part of the day. On the morning I was a bag of nerves but Ben’s warm and friendly personality instantly put me at ease and it made having the photographs taken fun and exciting. The experience provided by Ben was first class”
Rachel and Andrew and their guests then made their way to the stunning permanent marquee which was decorated with large martini glass centrepieces containing pink roses, blue hydrangeas and Singapore orchids. They were accompanied by table cards, favours and place settings that all fitted perfectly into the chosen colour scheme of pink and blue, all provided by Entwined of Lichfield and Walsall wood. It was here in the marquee that they enjoyed a splendid three course meal, elegantly served by Tony and the team, before the main event of the day, the best man’s speech. I’ll save Andy’s blushes and won’t go into detail, but best man Craig should defiantly be on his guard for retribution when he ties-the-knot himself next year.
The celebrations carried on long into the evening with the cutting of the fabulous vintage style cupcakes decorated with stunning flowers and delicate icing butterflies by Sarah of Creative Cakes, just before the first dance and evening entertainment provided by singer Lewis Dixon. Rachel recalls “one of my favourite moments of the day was dancing with my new husband to the song “Me and Mrs Jones” performed beautifully by Lewis”
I had a fantastic time photographing this wedding, Tony and the team at Moxhull Hall made everything run so smoothly as usual and helped me out massively when the weather wasn’t too good. Rachel and Andrew and all of their friends and family were a joy to be around and to photograph. Not a single person let the rain affect the atmosphere of the day. Thank you guys for letting me play a part in your big day, and thank you for helping me create some absolutely stunning images and a fantastic wedding album.
