This past weekend I had the great pleasure of working for a company called Pinnacle Challenge on their latest venture, a charity abseil down the side of the Fort Dunlop Building next to the M6 motorway just outside of Birmingham. I turned up on Saturday morning not really knowing what to expect, upon arrival I was handed a harness and a helmet by company owner and event coordinator Simon and after a brief introduction to the team I was lead up to the roof of the building where we joined by the event co-coordinator Matt. Over the nest 8 hours the guys sent over 40 people over the edge of the build with immense professionalism as I snapped away after a short while of getting used to hanging over a near 100 foot drop. As the day went on Matt kept on ribbing me about the fact that as a “welcome to the team” the only way I would be allowed back down to ground level would be over the edge of the building and after the final person had abseiled down I followed VERY apprehensively I might had, however once half way down the fear subsided and I began to enjoy it. Sunday saw over 50 participants go over the edge including two bunnies and Scooby Doo, all these people did a superb job of raising loads of cash for there own charities such as the Girl Guides, CRY, and Acorns amongst others. The Sunday also saw a guest appearance by Ben from Touch Radio and I have to say he did a great job of commentating his way down the side of the building creating what can only be described as radio gold. Id just like to say that I had a brilliant weekend and all the team made me feel very welcome and I hope this is the start of a long a prosperous relationship, cheers guys I’m already looking forward to the next challenge.
